Homecoming is just around the corner and this marks the beginning of the season for buying formal apparel. With the majority of high schoolers, guys and girls, on a budget, spending a decent amount of money on a dress isn’t reasonable or possible. Even men’s shirts, vests, and slacks can add up to be the same absurd price.

Finding reasonably priced, appropriate, clothing for this event can be a challenge. To ease the stress of this task, here’s a compilation of stores offering inexpensive prices for Homecoming attire.

Amazon

Amazon is possibly the most outlandish source to buy homecoming clothing from. Amazon is generally associated with phone cases, movies and tv shows, and other nonspecific items. Though with the correct search term and some digging you can find some decent items for a decent price.

Boohoo

Boohoo is an online clothing brand that offers cheap prices for all items of clothing. Their dress selection is extensive and won’t break your bank.

PromGirl

While most of Prom Girl’s dresses are quite expensive, they allow you to filter dresses based on price. A $50 and under category does exist.

Forever 21

While most don’t want to spend a lot on a dress, especially seniors saving for prom, Forever 21 offers ridiculously inexpensive Homecoming dresses. They also offer dresses that are less formal and more comfortable.

Guys don’t want to have to spend a lot on attire for homecoming either, so the following clothing stores offer inexpensive Homecoming clothing for everyone.

JCPenny

The majority of JC Penny’s clothing is cheap, which makes their formal clothing a lot less expensive than others. They sell both dresses and men’s formal clothing, they also have a very large range of sizes, as well as styles and colors.

Overstock.com

Overstock.com offers just about anything for a reasonable price, so finding some clothes for Homecoming should be a piece of cake. And get this, they even have a men’s bow tie in seafoam green (for $10.99!)

Kohl’s

Kohl’s is always sending ten dollar Kohl’s cash in the mail and 20% off coupons via email. When you pair this with their low prices and sales, you can get almost anything for a good deal. Kohl’s is a one stop shop.

Ross

Ross’s motto is “Dress for less,” and if that doesn’t tell you anything about their prices, I don’t know what will. Though if you need any extra reassurance, Century sophomore Quilan Henderson said, “I get all my dresses from Ross,” as did a numerous amount of Century students.

If buying inexpensive clothing isn’t for you Fame and Partners, Macy’s, Nordstroms, David’s Bridal, and other sections of PromGirl may help you find the dress you want, for the price you are willing to pay

For some people buying a dress that you may only wear once is unreasonable, so many students such as Sophomore Aiden Kemper borrow and trade dresses with their friends. “ I got my dress from a friend that grew out of it,” she said. “ I saved a lot of money.”

With Homecoming around the corner, it is important that we remind students of the dress code for formal and semi-formal events.

The dress code for ladies is less strict during the dance. Dresses with spaghetti straps and strapless tops, a backless (to waist), and slits that are no higher than mid-thigh are permitted. Dresses and skirts must be at least mid-thigh in length and no see-through dresses or sides are allowed as are bare sides. No excessively low cut tops or dresses and bare midriffs are not allowed.

Gentlemen’s shirts must have sleeves and shirts must remain on.

All students need to remember that it is a school dance and these guidelines need to be followed.

The Homecoming bonfire will take place on the 20th of October at 8pm, the Homecoming football game (7pm vs. Liberty) and assembly is on October 21st, and the Homecoming dance is on October 22nd from 8pm to 11pm.
