The numerous amount of extra-curricular activities offered at Century, especially in the form of sports or clubs, can be a very overwhelming list. Choosing an extracurricular activity is only half the problem - knowing how to join is another.

Joining extra-curricular activities are an important part of the high school experience. Sports and clubs allow students to participate and enjoy something they are interested in, while giving students the opportunity to make new friends and create new memories. They can also be an escape from our school work and overall stressful lives.

Here at Century we have clubs for just about anything, including Speech and Debate, Key Club, SHAC, and yearbook, in addition to football, basketball, soccer, and swimming. Other activities include band, choir, drama, and leadership. These can also help round out your resume for jobs and college applications.

In mid-September, Century hosts an event during the school day called Club Rush. During the 30 minute period, students are called to the main gym to receive a brief introductions to clubs and the opportunity to sign up, with each club having a station throughout the gym. By signing up for each club that interests you, no matter if you know how to incorporate it into your schedule or not, you are getting the most of what Club Rush and Century has to offer.

To get involved in sports visit the Century website for registration forms, or visit the athletic office located in between the attendance office and the counseling center.

To get involved in activities like leadership, look out for posters in the hallways containing information on the given activity or speak to our activities director, Ms.Kasper or other people already established and involved in leadership.

If you have an idea and want to start a club (keeping in mind you need five people, excluding yourself), reach out to Ms. Kasper.

Extra-curricular activities have a pertaining influence on students lives, they also are an important part of being in high school. By joining a club or a sport you have the opportunity to make friends, and memories, that could last you a lifetime. Even if you join a club and don’t enjoy it, at least you have the opportunity to have no regrets about your high school experience.
